We hope that this message finds you in good health and good spirit.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Ocean Futures Society is taking steps to ensure the safety of our office, team, volunteers, and visitors based on the health protocols recommended by the State of California, the office of Public Health of Santa Barbara, and the World Health Organization.

OFS will be making the following changes effective immediately until further notice. The OFS office is now closed to visitors until further notice. Our team will primarily be working remotely with limited time in the office. We will continue to respond to emails, and calls, however, there will be delays in response due to the modified operations.

Despite these changes, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Team will continue working protecting our water planet Ocean.

For me, it is a moral issue that I cannot passively observe the destruction of our water planet and it’s beautiful natural resources which is our global heritage. I assure you that my lifelong dedication, devoting myself tirelessly to the protection of the ocean, both at the grassroots level and at the highest echelons of government and business, where my reputation of six decades helps energize alliances for positive change, will continue for decades to come in order to protect and improve the quality of life for our species and for future generations.

And although we are in strange territory the positive side of this unstable situation can inspire new thoughts of creativity and lifestyle choices that can make positive impacts like saving the rainforests by eating less meat, never using single-use plastic water bottles by carrying our own bottles, don’t accept plastic bags provided by stores by bringing your own canvas or cloth bags, conserving resources by preparing our own food, and we can all try to go beyond recycling by embracing a Zero-Waste Lifestyle, sending nothing to a landfill so that all resources can fully return to our ecosystem. Changes in habits are powerful!

Let’s stay connected with each other virtually, from our closest neighborhoods to our communities in the far corners of the world, reaching out with goodwill and reassuring friendship that we are all in this together.

We are grateful for your continued support and appreciate your understanding during this challenging time. Please Stay Home, Stay Healthy, and Stay Safe.

Ocean of Thanks to all!
