OFS Team Films New Zealand Orca Rescue And Release
Jean-Michel Cousteau and the OFS team are on location in Tutukaka, New Zealand. They are filming a new episode for the Ocean Adventures PBS television series on orcas/killer whales. The team had a rare opportunity to take part in the dramatic rescue of a stranded juvenile whale.

The world premiere of Jean-Michel Cousteau Presents Dolphins and Whales 3D: Tribes of the Ocean, a new film at the New England Aquarium’s Simons IMAX Theatre in Boston was a grand success. Actress/environmental activist Daryl Hannah (the film’s narrator,) was on hand, along with film presenter Jean-Michel Cousteau, Fabien Cousteau and filmakers from 3D Entertainment.
Navy Loses Two Sonar Cases Filed By OFS, JMC
Marine life in the waters off Southern California and other locations around the world gained further protection as a result of two federal court cases the Navy lost this week. The lawsuits were filed by the Natural Resources Defense Council on behalf of Ocean Futures Society, Jean-Michel Cousteau and a coalition of non-profit organizations. The two decisions on sonar this week affirm that this country can and must achieve our national security aims while protecting the environment.
Bimini's Blight
OFS’ Fabien Cousteau visited Bimini in early December, 2007, and again in early January 2008. There, he met with various stakeholders concerned about the island’s future and interested in exploring what can be done to mitigate long-term damage to the mangroves and coral reefs from resort construction. International Year Of The Reef 2008
Education at every level - from international to national, from university to village children, and every level in between - is absolutely critical in protecting coral reefs. I am pleased to see that IYOR 2008 is tackling this important issue.
