Jean-Michel Cousteau, president of Ocean Futures Society was the luncheon keynote speaker at Capitol Hill Oceans Week 2003 on June 11 in Washington, D.C. The event was designed to provide a substantive focus on key ocean issues: Exploring our Oceans and Managing our Marine Areas.

Capitol Hill Oceans Week was attended by members of Congress & the Executive Branch, Capitol Hill staff, leaders from industry & academia, experts from nonprofits, and others concerned about the oceans. The event was coordinated by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
