April 9, 2019: Jean-Michel Cousteau was one of the signatories yesterday on a historic Joint Statement that states all of the captive whales held in Nakhodka will be released into the environment. The Joint Statement is signed by the Governor of the Primorsky Region O.N. Kozhemyako, President of Ocean Futures Society Jean-Michel Cousteau, and Executive Director of The Whale Sanctuary Project Charles Vinick.
April 8, 2019: Jean-Michel Cousteau President of Ocean Futures Society, Charles Vinick of The Whale Sanctuary Project and the Governor of Primorski Krai Oleg Kozhemyako signed an agreement to release the beluga and orca whales back into their natural environment. The announcement was made in Primorski Krai on Monday, April 8.
