Caiman

Diving in the Amazon River can be a challenging experience. Dark tannin-stained waters, currents, fallen trees and branches can all provide obstacles and hazards. But the mystery of what the water holds compels the divers to explore.

In this short film we delve into the unknown with Jean-Michel Cousteau joined by his son Fabien and daughter Céline, as they encounter a Caiman, also called Jacaré. Caimans are the South American relatives of the alligator. Watch as the Cousteaus meet this formidable reptile on its own terms.

Anaconda

The anaconda, the largest snake in the world, lives in the Amazon River Basin and other parts of South America. A very adept swimmer, it hunts its meals in the water using the cover of tangled roots to sneak up on its prey. It wraps its long, powerful body around its victim and either crushes it or suffocates it to death. In this short film, Ocean Adventures team members Céline Cousteau and Richard Murphy get up close and personal with this legend.

The Amazon

The most powerful of the world’s river systems, its rapid transformation will alter the global climate. Emptying into the great Atlantic Ocean, it flows through the world’s largest tropical rainforest, the vast, natural theater where evolution has gone wild, creating the greatest biodiversity of any area on the planet.
