Marco Island Discovery Center

Ocean Futures Society (OFS) has formed a collaborating partnership with the Marco Island Discovery Center, which is creating an innovative charter school - the Marco Island Academy for 9 to 12 grades. This collaboration will involve OFS consulting with the Academy on its soon to be constructed, LEED certified learning center. It will also involve OFS helping with environmental aspects of the Academy's educational curriculum and in developing an outdoor education program for students and members of the Marco Island community.

We are pleased to be working with the Academy and see this collaboration as a fantastic opportunity to create a seamless, integrated, holistic educational experience that will provide a solid foundation based on science and environmental science with connections to the social sciences. The concept of interconnectedness is critical and we see the Academy's vision as providing an opportunity for students to see and internalize some very important concepts.
